I was lamenting to my business colleagues how I was really keen to read more business books, but you know life, seemed to take over.
As it happens they wanted to read more too.
We put in a deliberate construct to support the desire of reading more, getting together to talk about it. Everyone was keen to contribute, which meant you had to have read at least some of the book.
I find this works really well with my piano practice. I practice because I have a lesson each week, that I want to get value for money from, but also I want to see myself advancing. I am not one of those people, who has a burning desire that drive me, I will never be a muso. I just really enjoy it for no other purpose than it is fun. By putting in supporting structures I find that I am more able to make a change to whatever it is I want to do differently.
Back to the Business Book Club!
It is not a high pressure BBC (Business Book Club) either. We are not even committing to one book a month. If we can increase our business book reading by 1 each quarter, that is 4 more than I would have read last year, left to my own devices.
When I started, I reached out to like minded peeps and they were keen, but not possible to do a face to face. So here you go, an online version that will allow for a richer and deeper convo, in a post Covid world - how exciting!
The first online book club will be reading, Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman, on Tuesday the 23rd June.
I have left just enough time for someone who wants to join us, as you do not have to have read the whole book. Or if you have already read the book and are keen to delve into and share what you took away from it.
Want to join in BBC?
Just message me with your email address and away we go.
